Pumpkin Carving with the Padres

The happiness in the picture above makes my heart happy. Pops and Nani surprised the girls and flew in for Halloween.  My dad has work in San Antonio once a year and we were lucky to have it land at the perfect time to join in the trick or treating fun last year.  We showed up at the airport to pick them up and Kate had no idea what we were doing. When she realized we were picking them up, she squealed with delight and insisted they squish next to her in the back of the van for the ride home.  We then showed up at Abby's school to surprise her and she came out of class jumping up and down.
This was the first Halloween we had them around with the kids and it was a little piece of heaven for all of us.  The afternoon started with pumpkin carving and Pops taught the girls some carving skills. The whole evening was a success with Nani's famous sugar cookies, and a Spooky Halloween Dinner (including homemade root beer…Mmmmm).  The night ended with walking the neighborhood dressed as Frozen.

My view from the window.  Love them.

Looking for deer in the backyard.

Mason wasn't quite ready to ride his shoulders but it's tradition so Pops wanted to try it out. ;)

 Trick or Treating with friends.
