Nogan

These two crack me up.  There are moments when they are best of friends, and then others when they are pulling each others hair.  This video was while I was making dinner and they thought it would be funny to knock each others heads or 'nogans'. Kate totally face plants it and doesn't even care.  I have a feeling this is just the beginning of the silliness that I am in for.  I love to hear them laugh, it's much better than screaming. :)

Trunk or Treat 2012

Our church had it's annual Trunk or Treat this past weekend.  The kids got really wound up for this, which I don't blame them. I remember getting so excited as a child for events like this and the minutes ticked by so slowly. It's fun to watch Abby get into the holidays.  I had her asking me every 5 minutes if it was 'time to go yet.' Gratefully the hour arrived and she was able to put on her princess gown with glitter everywhere...literally. Her carseat now sparkles along with our carpet and stairs. We are 'all girl' at our house.  On the other hand, we had to tackle Kate to put on her costume because she would have preferred to go in her diaper or nothing at all.
A good time was had by all because, really, who couldn't have fun when it involves candy, donuts, and chocolate?! I was really impressed with all the trunks, decorations and costumes. We have such creative friends. We're so glad they did this because we may not get to trick or treat this year with the storm.  We were in charge of a trunk, but with Brett gone and a busy week we didn't have much time to plan anything.  So, about an hour before the event, we picked up some leaves and made two posters declaring 'The Predicted Aftermath of 'FRANKENSTORM.' (We do hope everyone is alright with the storm and it's not too bad.) Not the most exciting trunk, but hey, at least we tried. Haha. The most important part is to have candy so we had that. :)
It was Kate's first year to get into the trick or treating and she thought it was a pretty sweet deal.  After going through and getting candy from trunks she thought she was suppose to 'trick or treat' out of others bags.   I caught her sneaking her little hand into quite a few bags as we walked around, she is the perfect height for that.  Um...no. Good efforts Kate. She is now a huge fan of Halloween, along with her sister.  We love this time of year, definitely something we always look forward to.

Homestead Farm

My cousin back home recently introduced me to her friend, Kylie, and we instantly fell in love with her.  She is darling and the girls adore her.  We decided it would be fun to steal Kylie for the afternoon and let her experience the countryside of the East.  Some of her friends from Georgetown came along and we had such a good time.  There weren't many apples left to pick but there were still plenty of pumpkins, squash, apples and cider to buy at the market.  The girls loved the animals and jumping on the hay near the pond.  Watching these ladies reminded me of the good memories of college days.  They are a great group of girls, it will be fun to see what life brings them in the next few years. We're glad we got one last taste of this awesome Fall weather with Sandy rolling through.

Happy Birthday Brett!

It has been a crazy time for Brett with the law case he is working on.  Since he had to work a lot, the celebration was rather simple. Gratefully he was lucky to get off at a decent hour that day, (which was his birthday wish.) :)  We enjoyed dinner as a family and then watched a movie at home after the girls were down.  It was a little piece of paradise to be together after a loooong week.  A night as a family was an awesome birthday present.  We sure love you Babe!  Thanks for all you do for us.  You are my better half for sure.  Happy Birthday!

Skyline

I love walking outside right now to a crisp breeze and the smell of burning firewood.  Fall is in full swing and I'm in heaven. This time of year is such a nice break from the thick humidity and the trees are honestly incredible.  Since Fall is at it's peak, we decided to take full advantage of the time and go to Skyline Drive with our good friends, the Rorings.  We of course had to stop by our favorite apple orchard, Hartland, on the way.  We bought mounds of yummy apples and munched on them as we drove through the tops of the Shenandoah Mountains.  Most of the leaves were at the peak of color and it was gorgeous.  Great company and beautiful scenery.  The perfect day.

Cute lil Jack and Brittany.

We made a wish driving through this tunnel.

Me and Brit overlooking the mountains. I have to say Brittany and Tony are amazing! They are going through a lot right now with Tony's chemo treatments and they always have smiles on their faces.  They inspire me.
We love their family!

I love my girls.
