Puddles

The other day it rained or better said, it poured!  We love a good rainstorm. It reminds me of the Dominican Republic. I remember walking down the street in complete daylight and all of the sudden a dark cloud would appear and I knew I was in for a good shower.  In the Dominican I didn't use an umbrella for rain because honestly there was no point.  It poured so hard I was going to get soaked either way.  My umbrella was used for the sun. :)  Often times when it rained, the people in the streets would come out of their homes and shower in it, complete with shampoo and soap. They would stand under the drain pipes as a shower head and bathe. The kids would also turn the street and gutters into a waterslide. We would be finishing up with the morning studies and see kids flying by our porch in the gutter, dressed in nothing but their briefs or completely bare.  Haha. It was quite the sight.  Everyone loved a good downpour.

Well, the East Coast has some pretty sweet rainstorms, and this downpour had the girls wired.  The thunder started rattling the window panes and they were climbing up to see what was going on.  There is something exciting about a good storm.  When the thunder stopped, the girls immediately wanted to go play in the awesome puddles they could see from the window.  So, why not?  Daddy was having a late night and nothing was holding us back from getting a little muddy, especially with bath time right around the corner. The girls were in heaven and splashed to their hearts content. Nothing beats bath time in the mud, that's for sure.  It made it extra fun to have Aunt Sippy with us. She knows how to have a good time.

A Sippy Summer

We are so excited that Sippy has arrived for the Summer.  She got a job working as a nanny for a family out here so we get to have her until August.  We LOVE having her here.  The girls adore her and follow her like little ducklings all around the house. She is really helpful and makes the long nights a whole lot easier when Brett has to work late. Bring on the Summer of fun with one of our favorite people.
Luv ya Sip!

Skype

Thank goodness for Skype and modern technology so we can chat with family far away.  I just found this video from a month ago and had to post it.  Kate was talking to Pops and making all sorts of sounds with her tongue.

Dave's Graduation

Dave graduated with his Masters in Advertising from VCU this month.  Way to go Dave and Alissa ( it really is a duel effort!! ) :)  They both worked so hard to get to this point and did really well.  We love you guys!  Dave also accepted an awesome job in Richmond so we are excited they will still be with us for a little longer.  We LOVE having them close.  These two are such a perfect couple.
CONGRATS!!

It was fun having most of the family together for the graduation celebration. (We missed you Spencer and Nadine!)  We were able to visit some of our favorite spots, like Maymont Park and Carey Town.  The family was even introduced to 'Bob, the Organist,' which was a highlight for sure.  The trip ended on a quick stop in Williamsburg to see the historic sites.  Something we enjoyed there was picking strawberries on a nearby island. We took a free ferry across and spent an hour finding the best plump and juicy strawberries around.  Kate took advantage of the opportunity and devoured every strawberry she could get her hands on.  Pops assisted her in this feat and by the end of the event he was drenched in strawberry juice from holding her on his shoulders. They were quite the pair.  A homemade ice cream cone topped off the afternoon and life was complete. The day was finished in one of my favorite places... Yorktown.  I love the history there, the beautiful town and scenery.
It's always so fun to have family visit and it was hard to see them leave.  Abby cried a good part of the way home.  We made some really fun memories.
Thanks everyone!  Sure love you all.

The Fields of Yorktown. (Sigh). I love this place.

Strawberry Fields Forever

Mmmmm....Strawberries.
Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.  Nothing beats a fresh picked strawberry at peak season.

I love this picture of my Dad and Kate.

Abby followed Nani everywhere, she adores her.

Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream topped off the perfect day.

Virginia Dogwood Trees

The State Flower in Virginia is the Dogwood and for good reason.  Abby and I went on a Sunday walk around our complex today and this is what we found.

Beautiful.

Want to sit here and read a book? I sure do.

Mud

This is one of those pictures that really describes itself.  Definitely an event to remember and I loved it. Though, on a side note, I will wear different pants next time.
Mud Run 2012 - Team 'MASH'

Here we are BEFORE the race.

 Reese in all her glory.

Thanks Peggy for watching the kids so we could go and thanks to awesome friends that like to get muddy.

Grandma Visits

We were lucky to have Grandma come visit this last week.  The girls were excited to have the constant undivided attention and we enjoyed touring the town with her.  We were able to visit The National Cathedral on Friday and tour the Air and Space Museum in Dulles on Monday.  It was fun to see the Discovery Space Shuttle up close.  Pretty awesome to think that just last year it was in space outside our Earth. We love it when family visits.  Thanks for a great time Grandma! We love you.

Thank goodness phones take pictures. Here are a few pics via the phone that we tried to capture...

National Cathedral and Bishop's Gardens

The Discovery Shuttle

I really like this picture of Charlie just mesmerized with the huge helicopter.

The Three Amigos...Abby just LOVES them.

Grandma always brings fun crafts.  The kids made bows and were really excited to wear them.
