Bluebonnets 2018

Brushy Creek Lake Park is just a mile from our home and we love to run through the wild flowers every spring.  We've made a tradition of taking the kids pictures on the flowers each Spring since we lived in DC.  When we lived in DC, we would always take pictures near the Iwo Jima Monument where they had a field of beautiful tulips every spring.  Once we moved to Texas, bluebonnets continued the tradition. It's fun to see the changes in our children every year as we take pictures in fields of wild flowers. 

Easter 2017

We had our traditional Easter Egg Hunt in our neighborhood with swarms of kids running to find eggs at the crack of a gun.  Elyse was more interested in chewing on the eggs than anything.  Mason had fun figuring out how the egg hunts all worked and got pretty excited knowing there was candy inside each egg.

We celebrated Easter with lots of yummy food and cascarones.  Years back, when we lived in DC, my great friend, Anabel, taught us how to make casarones.  Each year we would make them by hand by saving eggs, painting them and then filling them with confetti.  On Easter we would crack the eggs on each other and confetti would fly everywhere.  When we moved to Texas, we found out that the grocery store sells cascarones which was awesome because we could buy them in bulk and have even bigger confetti wars.  The kids look forward to this tradition  of cascarones every year.

Antelope Lower Slot Canyon 2019

The Antelope Slot Canyon was a work of art.  It is amazing how the natural forces of wind and water can create masterpieces in rock. A Navajo tour guide led us down a ladder into these rock formations below the ground.  Elyse rode on Brett's back in the Kelty while the rest of us followed on foot.  The kids loved sliding their fingers across the delicate folds in the rock.  It looked like concrete waves of red stone.  Spencer and Nadine joined us for this fun adventure and we loved having them along.
