Frying Pan Farm

Sometimes on our wild Costco Trips we have to stop by our favorite, Frying Pan Farm. (Awesome name for a farm, isn't it?) As you can tell, the girls LOVE it and enjoy 'driving' the tractors.  Since we had such a fun time on our quick visit this week, we had to return.
The Princes are another family that we absolutely adore and they were able to join us the second time.  Brett has been working late hours lately and Michelle's husband, Brian, has been studying for finals, so it was an excellent time to get out and let the kids RUN.

We had a great time making pancakes with sand at the park and petting all the animals at the farm.  I sure hope the chicks survived through the night after encountering Kate. She got a little too excited. It was fun to see her pet the babies, but I feared for their lives.  

Thanks for a great time Princes'!  Like I said before, we are blessed with awesome friends.  Good friends help me keep my sanity. :)  

I'm scared for teenage years.  Maybe I'll let Brett teach them to drive.

 

Kate got some new shoes and Abby INSISTED that she had to have her nails done with it. I really hesitated with the request but told her I would try.  Ironically, Kate held perfectly still.  Why is it that she will hold still to get her nails done but not for anything else?

S'MORES

We absolutely love the Sanders!!  Any time spent with them is a good time for sure.  They were nice and invited us over for dinner and s'mores. Mmmm.  It honestly was the perfect night.  The temperature was ideal, no bugs, awesome company, campfire, and gooey marshmallows.  All of this in their own backyard, pretty sweet!  Thanks for a great night.

The Birdie Book

 This book was Brett's as a kid and a current favorite at our house.  

It makes me laugh for a lot of reasons. The girls can't get enough of it.

Discovery Shuttle

 I found out this morning that the Space Shuttle, Discovery, was making it's landing near DC at the Dulles Airport. I should have paid closer attention to the news, but I'm glad I still got to see it.  I was just on a jog on the trail when I saw it. It literally flew right past our house. Brett was lucky and went to the top of his building in DC to see it. 

What a cool sight.

Patience

I am sure many of you have seen this movie clip but I wanted to share it because I like it.  Patience is definitely something I need a whole lot more of, especially with my children and myself at the moment. :)  And on that note, anyone have any tips on raising two adorable little girls that are strong-willed and a wee bit (or a lot) stubborn?  They are sure fun and I love them more than anything, but I need tips AND a nap.
Oh, and just to show how crazy my brain is at the moment. I just returned from Costco to notice the giant bag of toilet paper I bought was not in the car. (And why would we need so much toilet paper? Ask Kate.) Last time I remember it was in the parking lot.  Opps!  I am sure people were laughing as I drove off. How I miss putting a jumbo pack of toilet paper in the car is beyond me.  And, somehow I lost our Costco Points Check in the whole fiasco. Double Opps!  (Don't worry, that check can be reimbursed.) Phew. Brett was calling our credit card while I drove home without the toilet paper. Awesome. I just have to laugh.  This is just one of the many 'Costco Sagas' because I have also lost my wallet there as well. In an attempt to make me feel better about, Brett mentioned that maybe a homeless man really needed some Quilted Northern in his life.  My poor husband won't admit it, but I think he's afraid for me to venture there anymore.
 I know, I'm crazy. Just had to share.  

Easter 2012

Happy Easter! 

We hope you all had a fabulous Easter Weekend and Spring Break.

This holiday is a favorite for sure.  It is nice to watch the earth blossom back to life after the dead of Winter.  I love how we can reflect on our Savior and His life. I know He Lives and I am so grateful for His love and pure sacrifice.

The girls loved looking for eggs at several hunts.  Abby did a great job finding the Peanut Butter ones and it was pretty cute watching Kate discover that there was candy inside.

Kite Festival 2012

Washington DC held its annual Kite Festival last week.  We decided we would drop by for a few hours and enjoy the festivities.  There were a lot of people there this year to celebrate 100 Years of Cherry Blossoms.  This year was the first year we actually got our kite to fly, which was a definite plus. We did learn though that what goes up, must come down and it took a big fall with a million other kite strings swaying around it. We then spent the rest of the time bonding with all the people that were entangled with us.  Opps.  It didn't seem matter that kite strings were snared everywhere, everyone was was having a good time and care free.  It's always nice to see people relaxed and just enjoying life, especially in such a fast paced area.  Kate and Abby's highlight was the puppy they played with in the grass, so cute.

When we finally untangled the kite, we headed home to enjoy General Conference.  While we were walking back Abby neglected to give us a clear message of when she had to go to the bathroom.  Poor Brett experienced a warm shower down his back as he was carrying her on his shoulders.  I have to admit, it was pretty funny. Sorry babe. Good times.
