Last week we decided to visit Mount Vernon, the place where President George Washington lived. Mount Vernon is a beautiful place and one of our favorite sites. The Potomac River runs along side the mansion and Washington's grave is a neat, hollowed place. George Washington was a great, religious man! While we were there, we had the opportunity to see the reenactment of one of the Revolutionary War battles. It was eye-opening for us to visualize what it was like during the war. We gained a greater appreciation of the sacrifices that were made to help make our country free. We are so blessed to live in this great land!
This is the grave of George and Martha Washington. He wanted his grave site to be in brick and he had a scripture placed above his coffin, "I am the resurrection and the life..." Many of his family members are buried at this site. 
These pictures are in the back of the mansion, overlooking the Potomac River....it's a beautiful view.
We came to Mount Vernon on Colonial Day and there were many people dressed up like Colonial Times. It felt like we had take a time-warp into the 1700's, it was fun!

Such fun! I want to see George's grave one of these times when we come to see you. And you must go down to Jamestown and Williamsburg ... it's definitely worth the trip and the money. Thanksgiving is getting closer ... can't wait to see you guys!!!
