Building up to the day of Mason's birth seems like a blur of events. We had some crazy weeks prior to his due date and I was one tired momma and I did not want to bend over to get anything. If something dropped, it was staying right where it landed. My parents arrived the day before delivery and we were so grateful to have their help, especially with the car broken and our sanity wearing thin. I tossed and turned the night before D-Day worrying I had missed my alarm to get up at 4:30am. (I did not want to miss the appointment to get this little guy OUT. ) Sooner or later, morning came and we headed to the hospital. I could feel him kicking all around as we drove, little did he know what was coming in just a few hours. Once we arrived at the hospital it was routine as usual. We checked in, got the monitors on and got asked a million different questions for surgery. I anxiously watched the minutes slowly tick by on the clock as we drew closer to meeting our baby boy. It was fun to watch my belly with the monitors as we waited. Each of our children have hated the monitors when they were still in utero. Mason was no different and we watched my stomach go wild as he stretched and kicked. It's crazy to think that we were about to meet the little person inside. After a few hours of questions, monitoring and prep we were ready to head into surgery and walked down the long tile hall into the operating room. (It's really strange to walk down the hall to the operating room when you're the one being operated on.) Once I had my spinal tap, things happened very quickly and Mason was born within 10 minutes. Dr. Seeker was my doctor and did a great job. It was so nice to have someone I could trust for the delivery. He even let me see Mason right when he pulled him out and held him over the curtain. It meant a lot that I could see him right at birth. (I had felt like I missed out on that in past deliveries.) I also told Brett I wanted him to leave my bedside this time to take pictures so I could later see the birth through pictures. (Rated G photos without the blood of course. ;) ) This time I also had him go with the doctors to document his first bath and footprints while they finished stitching me up. I'm so glad I had him do that so I now have pictures and could feel a part of it.
The operation was 45 minutes and then we were in recovery cuddling our sweet boy. Some of my favorite moments in life are in the recovery room getting to know our sweet new baby. It really is a piece of heaven. Nothing can describe the amazing feeling of experiencing a new life come into the world. There is no question in my mind that there is a God. Heaven is so close you can feel it.
We spent the next few days getting to know this new person, deciding on a name and relearning the ropes of feeding, functioning on no sleep and recovering from surgery. This little guy is sure a blessing in our life and we are so grateful to have him. Once they are here you can't imagine life without them. I love my little family and can't believe they are mine. We are blessed.
Ready to get prepped...
you can tell I'm a little nervous, I'm not gonna lie. ;)
Last belly picture before I get to wear the lovely gown.

In the recovery room…we were both exhausted.
And all he wanted to do was sleep…during the day.
Wide awake…at night.
Going home…
